What Krishi Setu is

Krishi Setu is a platform where farmers and buyers find each other, agree contracts, and record what happens. It is run by registered entity name - not yet decided.

It is a prototype. It works, it is used by real people, and it does not yet handle money. Some of what a finished service would do - payment protection, identity verification, dispute resolution - is either not built or is clearly marked as not built.

We are not a party to your contract

When a buyer awards a contract to a farmer, the agreement is between those two. Krishi Setu is not a buyer, a seller, an agent, a broker or a guarantor. We provide the place where the agreement was made and the record of it.

We do not guarantee that a farmer will deliver, that a buyer will pay, that produce will be of any particular quality, or that either side will keep to what they agreed. If something goes wrong between you, the remedy is between you.

The MSP floor: what it does and does not do

For crops with a government-notified Minimum Support Price, our database refuses to accept a contract price or a bid below that floor. This is enforced by the system, not by a person, and it cannot be switched off by a buyer.

The floor comes from published government press releases and each rate on the site says which one. Where a crop has an MSP but we do not yet have a verified rate on file, the site says so and no floor is applied - it does not pretend one exists. Where a crop has no MSP at all, the site says that too.

Enforcing the floor on the contract price is all the floor does. It does not guarantee the contract will be honoured, that payment will arrive, or that a price above the floor is a good price.

No money passes through Krishi Setu

We do not collect, hold, transfer or release payments. When the site shows that a buyer recorded paying and a farmer confirmed receiving, those are two people's statements about a transfer that happened between their own banks. They are not evidence of the transfer and we cannot verify them.

Your account

You must be 18 or older. Your mobile number is your account; one number, one account. Keep your phone secure - anyone who can answer it can sign in as you.

What you post must be true. A contract you cannot fulfil, a listing for produce you do not have, or a bid you do not mean, harms a real person on the other side.

We may deactivate an account that is used to mislead, harass, or abuse the service or another person. Deactivation is not deletion: the record of contracts on the account stays, because the other parties to those contracts have a right to it.

Photographs, descriptions and track records

Photographs and the text of listings, contracts and profiles are supplied by the person who posted them. We do not verify them and the site says so wherever they appear. By uploading a photograph you confirm you have the right to, and you allow us to show it on the listing or contract you attached it to.

Track records are counts of events that both sides confirmed - deliveries a buyer confirmed receiving, payments a farmer confirmed receiving. They are not ratings, reviews or opinions, and nobody can write their own.

Crop guidance

The guidance in My Farm is rule-based: it looks at the season, whether a verified MSP exists, and what grew on your plot last. It is not agronomic advice, it does not know your soil, and it says so on the screen. Decisions about what to grow are yours.

Limits of our responsibility

We provide the service as it is. We work to keep it available and accurate but do not promise it will always be, and we are not responsible for loss that comes from a contract between users, from information a user posted, or from the service being unavailable. The precise wording of this limitation, and whether any cap applies, is not yet decided and should be settled with legal advice.

Governing law

Governing law and the courts that have jurisdiction are not yet decided.
